Welcome to the page of the
RED READING GROUP.

We are currently reading A ROSE for the ANZAC BOYS which is written by Jackie French.

Term 2 Week 4 - Thursday 10 May

This week we read chapters 6, 7, 8 & 9. In these chapters, Midge was getting excited because Gordon was going to visit. But then his friend came and told her that he had been shot and killed. One of the people who did the ambulance job had unable to drive because of swollen and blistered hands, so Midge took over. She was on an ambulance run and her headlights went out. When she got to the train station Anne said that she would walk in front of the car with a lantern so that Midge could see where she was going. Then a German plane flew overhead and bombed them. At the end of the chapter, you don't know if Anne is going to live or die.

This week in our Book Club session, we talked a lot about how the book has improved a lot over time. Most of the group rated it a 2 or 3 out of 10 when we first started reading it but now everyone rates it between 7 & 9. We then talked about how we need to give books a chance to get started, and then we made a lot of text-to-movie connections.

For our session next week, we are going to read chapters 10, 11 & 12.

Term 2 Week 5 - Thursday 17 May

In our reading this week, Midge started working as the Colonel's assistant and she drove him to a resterant/hotel where they had dinner. The colonel got drunk and so did Midge but then Midge went out side because she was feeling uncomfortable. Then an ambulance came and asked her if she wanted a lift to the casualty station and that was where her Auntie was. When she got there she was told to put on a apron and start work.

Today in our Book Club session we talked about (TO BE CONTINUED)...

We are going to read
